Includes:

• Spelling —  spell checkers can only go a certain way in picking up errors. A professional proofreader polishes off a document to a publishing level. 

• Grammar — Have you used the correct tense, used plural forms correctly, and included prepositions where they are needed?

• Punctuation  — have you used commas, colons, semicolons, apostrophes, hyphens, acronyms, abbreviations and quotations correctly? Have you included double spaces?

• Referencing edit — Is your reference list correctly laid out according to your preferred referencing system? I will note any issues and highlight them for you.

Proofreading and Editing Service — from $30 per 1,000 words

• Language and style editing — is your tone and word choice appropriate for the document’s purpose? Is it appropriate for your intended audience?

• Syntax — do your sentences express your ideas clearly and powerfully? I will sharpen your sentences, suggest new ways to express your ideas, and point out unclear meaning.

• Consistency  — is your language, numbering system, or capitalisation consistent throughout the document? Are the names of key concepts, animals, compounds or technical terms spelt consistently? I will correct any inconsistencies inline with your preferred system.

• Word choice — have you chosen the right words to express your point? Are you using powerful or weak words?  I will give you advice on word usage.

• Referencing check — corrects both in-text citations and reference list or bibliography. I can check this against your preferred referencing system.
