THE PEOPLE

Everyone we met was extremely polite and helpful. Lots of bowing took place. The fashion sense in Tokyo was a little strange, we thought. Many of the young females wore shorts with long black socks to above the knee and high-heeled sneakers or brightly coloured stilettos. These fashions were not as pronounced in Osaka, though, where the style was more elegant. Even saw a swimsuit display in one of the big stores which featured bikini bottoms with skirts. These were last seen in the western world in the 50’s. (I secretly hoped they would take on back in Australia. Would do away with the necessity for bikini waxing).
